The kimblewick cheekpiece is a type of pelham but has a milder effect and is ridden with one rein. The rider can determine the sharpness of the bit. The lower the rein is attached, the greater the leverage, the sharper the bit. This cheekpiece offers the rider more control over the horse than a standard cheekpiece. The kimblewick is not suitable for the inexperienced rider.
