If you have bought new riding boots, you naturally want to keep them beautiful for as long as possible. Leather is a material that lasts a long time, but it must be maintained and cared for in the right way. Read here some tips to keep your Italian boots beautiful.
To coordinate
Leather is a material that is often used in equestrian sports. But one teaching is not the other. Italian (Parlanti) riding boots, for example, are made of soft (calf) leather, while saddles and harnesses are much stiffer. So always adjust the maintenance to the type of material.
No grip products
To begin with, a warning is in order if you are going to clean boots made of soft leather. It is very important that you never use a Grip Stick, Grip Spray or a saddle with grip parts, because this will damage the leather faster.
No saddle leather
The leather of your boots is not the same as saddle leather. Therefore, do not use products such as saddle soap, leather grease or leather balm for a saddle or bridle. Italian boots like Parlanti's are made of very thin leather, which makes them very comfortable, but which needs a different treatment.
Step 1: Remove the worst dirt
After returning from a ride, you should first remove the worst dirt with a soft cloth.
Step 2: Wash clean
Now hold your riding boots under lukewarm water and use a cloth to wash them clean.
Step 3: Clean thoroughly if necessary
Sometimes your boots don't get completely clean by cleaning them under lukewarm water with a cloth. In that case, use hand soap to clean them really well.
Step 4: Dry
After cleaning your boots, you can use a soft cloth to dry them.
Step 5: Polish
When the boots are dry, you can polish the boots with polish for soft (calf) leather, such as the original Parlanti Polish. Follow the instructions on the packaging.
